Lori is mom to two amazing kids with special needs.  Though she thought her life with a complex care child was tough to navigate, her eyes were opened as she learned the depths and pain of also requesting and obtaining services for mental health. 

 

Lori's journey led her to volunteer and work with a number of groups in Wisconsin such as Children’s Wisconsin's Children's Advocacy Network, the Wisconsin Hospital Association, HEAT (Hospitals Education and Advocacy Team), the Regional Centers for Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs, Family Voices of Wisconsin, Wisconsin FACETS,  and Parent to Parent of Wisconsin.   She then honed her skills with leadership opportunities through Future Milwaukee and the BPDD's Partner's in Policymaking program.

 

After working with many families, Lori realized that there were many gaps in helping families to connect to services and to be empowered to advocate for their children.
 

Lori is a former television producer, writer, and orator.  Her personal mission is to help families navigate the journey of special needs parenting and help this phenomenal group of caregivers know they are not alone.
